Real Madrid lead Liverpool in Falcao race

Real Madrid lead Liverpool in Falcao race
08.08.2014 15:00
Liverpool made an approach for Monaco forward Radamel Falcao earlier this week, according to a report, but were told Real Madrid were on the verge of a deal.

The Guardian believes that Brendan Rodgers’ side inquired about the possibility of signing the Colombia international, as they look to replace Luis Suarez this summer. However, the paper says that representatives from the French outfit told their Premier League counterparts that Los Blancos were close to signing the goalscorer. It seems now that Falcao’s proposed switch to Santiago Bernabeu will only be a matter of time, despite Carlo Ancelotti’s side signing James Rodriguez and renewing Karim Benzema’s contract.Liverpool have already bolstered their attacking options by signing England international Rickie Lambert from Southampton, but appear to be pursuing another striker as they seek to fill Suarez’s void in their frontline.Liverpool's attempts to sign Falcao seem pretty audacious, to be honest, although it's strange that the decision to extend Karim Benzema's contract would be followed by a strengthening of their interest in the Colombian. What is certain is that Falcao made a mistake in moving to Monaco, where he plays above a car park to small crowds in a principality of yachts and Formula One drivers. This one will rumble on...(uk.eurosport.yahoo.com)Bakudaily.Az
