Russia deeply regrets Armenia's participation in NATO summit

Russia deeply regrets Armenia's participation in the NATO summit in Washington, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said, reported from Russian media.

"Speaking about the security sphere, I want to stress that Armenia remains a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and is a participant of numerous bilateral agreements in the military and military-technical spheres," Galuzin stated.

The deputy minister noted that in addition to attending the NATO summit held in Washington, Armenia aims to enhance its engagement with NATO or specific alliance members. This includes implementing NATO standards, procuring weapons, and conducting joint combat training exercises.

"By deepening cooperation at such a pace with those whose goal is the 'strategic defeat' of Russia, Yerevan risks seriously destabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus to the detriment, including its own security," Galuzin added.

"I think that knowledgeable experts and politicians in Armenia understand the possible consequences of such reckless steps,” he said.
