Russian Deputy FM: Grain deal extended

The grain deal has been extended on the same terms, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said, reported from Russian media.

He noted that it has been extended for 60 days. Its package nature has been confirmed, and the Russian Federation "will persistently strive to ensure that all obligations under the grain deal are fulfilled.”

He noted that the process of lifting restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products is underway, but slowly.

Consultations with UN representatives were held in Geneva. Following their results, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Russia has no objection to the extension of the Black Sea grain initiative after its expiration on March 18, but only for 60 days.

Russian-UN consultations in Geneva on the grain deal were not easy, he said.

Russia will evaluate the implementation of the agreement with the UN on unblocking the export of its agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets when deciding on the possibility of a new extension of the Black Sea grain initiative in two months, the diplomat said.
