During a visit to Baku in February, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said the two countries agreed to start US-Azerbaijan dialogue on civil society and democracy.

However, the scheduled meeting for May has been postponed, according to Turan news agency.

A State Department official told Turan: "While the US and Azerbaijan agreed to hold such dialogue during Victoria Nuland's visit to Baku, we simply don't believe that such a dialogue would be productive right now given the current climate. That's our judgment and our decision".
