Socar expects no rise in gas prices for Azeri consumers

Azerbaijan’s state energy company Socar doesn’t expect a rise in the price of natural gas in the country, Rovnaq Abdullayev, the company president, said in Baku today.

Socar has not appealed to the Tariff Council to increase the price, Abdullayev said, according to Trend news agency.

The fuel is currently sold at 100 manat (127 dollars) per 1,000 cubic meters.

Azerbaijan produced 17.9 billion cubic meters of marketable gas in 2013, up from 17.2 billion cubic meters a year earlier, according to the State Statistics Committee.

The country exports gas to Turkey, Georgia and Russia.
