Türkiye expressed support for the candidacy of the current Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte for the post of NATO Secretary General, reported from Dutch media.

"Türkiye has expressed support for the candidacy of outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte for the post of NATO Secretary General,” NOS TV said, citing sources in the alliance.

Rutte visited Istanbul last Friday to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Türkiye was one of the last four NATO countries yet to express support for Rutte.
