Talks with Ayrault focus on Karabakh, Libya, Lebanon - Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he had talks with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault earlier on the day to discuss developments in Nagorno Karabakh, as well as settlement of the conflicts in Libya, Lebanon and Sahelo-Saharan zone.


"We exchanged views on the developments in and around Nagorno Karabakh," Lavrov said, adding, "Our countries jointly with the US partners co-chair the OSCE Minsk Group. We support regular contacts with the leadership of both Armenia and Azerbaijan." "Few days ago, the Russian president invited his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts to discuss how they can raise security in the region and create conditions for the promotion of the political settlement," the minister said.


Touching upon other aspects linked with regional crises and conflicts, Lavrov said that they discussed settlement of the crisis in Libya, developments in Lebanon and in the Sahelo-Saharan zone (Africa). "Here, France does its best to promote improvement of the situation in a whole range of countries," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
