Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has been invited to attend the informal meeting of the European Union (EU) foreign ministers, reported from TRT Haber.

This marks the first time in five years that Türkiye has been invited to such a gathering, signaling the EU's efforts to restore dialogue with Ankara.

According to sources, Minister Fidan has accepted the invitation and will be attending the meeting, which is set to take place on August 29 in Brussels. The meeting will be chaired by Josep Borrell, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

During the meeting, FM Fidan is expected to present Türkiye's foreign policy priorities and engage in discussions with his European counterparts.

The foreign ministers will also address the escalating tensions in the Middle East and ongoing negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. Sigrid Kaag, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, will join the discussions to provide updates on the humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

Additionally, the political crisis in Venezuela following the presidential elections will be on the agenda of the meeting.
