Pashinyan: Armenia doesn't receive signals from West to break off relations with Russia

Armenia does not receive signals from the West to break off relations with Russia, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyansaid while commenting on a recent statement by Russian Foreign MinisterSergey Lavrov, reportedfrom Novosti-Armenia.

"We do not receive signals from the West to expel, oust, break relations with Russia, and I do not think that such signals will ever be. Signals may be regarding the development of bilateral relations, which also applies to Russia. That is, we discuss our bilateral relations with our Russian colleagues very openly and believe that there should not be any dark spots in these conversations regarding the concern that we have regarding the current situation with Russia's presence in the region and our bilateral relations," Pashinyan said at a press conference.

He noted that he would not like any statements made in the West to become an important factor in relations with Russia.

"There are no talks about the expulsion of Russia on the agenda of Armenia-US, Armenia-EU relations. Another matter is that we started discussing security issues with our Western colleagues," Pashinyan said.

Earlier Lavrov said that the United States "advises" Armenia to refuse to deploy a Russian base and border guards, promising to "ensure security" in return.
