Pezeshkian orders lifting of ban on Turkic names for children in Iran

Following a campaign by Azerbaijanis named “Balamın adı” and a letter addressed to Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian has ordered an investigation and the removal of restrictions on the use of Turkic names for children in Iran.
According to GünazTv, the petition demanding the ban’s removal was signed by 15,761 people. In response, Pezeshkian instructed Iran’s Civil Registration Organization to take measures to eliminate the current restrictions on Turkic names.
