Turkey receives first domestically made Altay tanks — Erdogan
Turkey’s army has received its first domestically produced Altay battle tanks, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a delivery ceremony and the opening of a new BMC defense plant in Ankara.
The tanks completed 35,000 km of testing and 3,700 live-fire drills before being handed over to the military, Erdogan said, adding they are equipped with advanced systems for modern warfare and harsh environments.
The new facility will produce eight Altay tanks and ten Altuğ armored personnel carriers per month, he noted.
