U.S. President Donald Trump said his administration plans to reduce import tariffs on coffee as part of efforts to ease food price inflation. “We’re going to lower some of the tariffs, and more coffee will come into the country,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

According to CNN, retail coffee prices in the U.S. have risen about 21% year-on-year, partly due to import tariffs imposed earlier. The National Coffee Association notes that more than 99% of coffee consumed in the U.S. is imported, mainly from Brazil (over 30%), Colombia (18.3%) and Vietnam (6.6%).
