Macron calls Erdogan as Turkey pushes to revive Istanbul peace talks
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan told French President Emmanuel Macron in a phone call that Ankara is maintaining contacts with Russia and Ukraine to revive the Istanbul negotiation process, his office said on Thursday.
Erdogan said Turkey is making “maximum efforts” to secure a just and lasting end to the Russia–Ukraine war and stands ready to “do everything possible” to reopen a diplomatic path to peace.
He added that diplomatic channels must be used as effectively as possible and that Turkey will continue to increase its support for ceasefire efforts. Avoiding steps that could endanger global stability would help advance peace initiatives, Erdogan said.
