Putin holds talks with U.S. delegation in Kremlin
Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with a U.S. delegation led by Steve Witkoff, alongside Jared Kushner and David Grunbaum, the Kremlin said. The meeting lasted more than three and a half hours.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said the talks were frank and constructive. The U.S. side shared its assessment of President Donald Trump’s recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Davos.
The discussions also covered Trump’s Peace Council initiative and the situation surrounding Greenland. Ushakov said the sides agreed that a lasting settlement would be impossible without resolving territorial issues.
Russia, the United States and Ukraine agreed to hold the first meeting of a trilateral security working group in Abu Dhabi on Friday. Russia’s delegation will be led by GRU chief Igor Kostyukov.
Economic issues were also discussed, with a separate meeting planned in Abu Dhabi between Kirill Dmitriev and Witkoff.
