Sweden holds talks with France and UK on possible NATO nuclear deployment
Sweden is holding preliminary talks with France and Britain on the possible deployment of their nuclear forces on Swedish territory, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson told The Telegraph.
Kristersson said Sweden has become more actively involved in all NATO discussions since joining the alliance, including those related to nuclear weapons. He added that democratic states should have access to nuclear deterrence as long as “dangerous countries” possess such arms.
A spokesperson for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also confirmed the talks, underlining the seriousness of the consultations, the newspaper reported.
