Iran closes airspace along Azerbaijan border amid drills

Iran closes airspace along Azerbaijan border amid drills

Iran has issued a NOTAM notice announcing the temporary closure of its airspace along the border with Azerbaijan.

According to the notice, the restriction covers the entire maritime zone along the Azerbaijan-Iran border in the Caspian Sea.

Iranian media report increased drone activity by the country’s armed forces in recent hours, which analysts say may indicate ongoing military drills in the area.

The exercises come amid a build-up of U.S. military presence in the region and warnings of potential operations against Iran.

A day earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that even a “limited strike” by the United States would be considered an act of aggression.
