Azerbaijan embassy organizes iftar tables in Syria
With the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic, the organization of the Local Council of the al-Oteybah town in the Eastern Ghouta region of the Damascus countryside province, and the support of the Azerbaijan International Development Assistance Agency (AIDA), iftar events were held in Syria on March 5 and 7 under the slogan “Brotherly peoples of Azerbaijan and Syria together in the month of mercy," the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic told.
It was noted that in 2018, as a result of chemical attacks by the Bashar al-Assad regime on the mentioned region, 600 civilians, including women and children, lost their lives and thousands of people were injured.
On March 5, iftar tables for 500 fasting people were organized in the yard of a school located in the mentioned town, which had been out of operation for many years due to destruction.
On March 7, 500 white polyethylene packages containing pre-packed iftar sets, with stickers bearing the flags of Azerbaijan and Syria, as well as the AIDA logo and the greeting “Happy Ramadan”, were distributed first to children who had lost both parents, and then to poor and needy families.
