Israel prepares for possible Iran escalation, says it may disarm Hamas alone

Israel is preparing for a possible escalation with Iran and may move to disarm Hamas on its own, Israeli media reported.

Kan News said Israel was awaiting a “green light” from U.S. President Donald Trump for potential strikes on key Iranian infrastructure and energy facilities.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told members of his security cabinet that forming an international coalition to disarm Hamas was unlikely and Israel would have to act alone, i24News reported.

A deadline set for Hamas to disarm expires this week, with the outcome expected to become clear in the coming days, according to sources.

Meanwhile, Israel’s military chief Eyal Zamir has ordered forces to raise readiness for a possible resumption of hostilities with Iran, Ynet reported.

Talks between the United States and Iran in Pakistan ended without agreement, with differences persisting over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme.
