CNN: US ready for new strikes on Iran

The United States is prepared to carry out new strikes against Iran but wants to give diplomacy a chance, CNN reported, citing U.S. officials.

According to the report, U.S. forces remain ready to conduct additional operations against Iran if needed.

CNN said the administration of President Donald Trump was keeping the military option on the table, while still seeing room for a diplomatic outcome.

U.S. officials continue to monitor Iran’s actions and possible threats to American forces, U.S. allies and shipping in the region, according to the report.

The United States had earlier said it carried out new strikes aimed at further degrading Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
