Khamenei buried in Mashhad after week-long funeral ceremonies

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was buried at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad after a week of funeral ceremonies, Reuters reported. 

The burial marked the culmination of nationwide mourning attended by large crowds.

Before the burial, funeral ceremonies were held in Tehran, Qom, Najaf and Karbala.

Reuters said Khamenei was killed in a joint U.S.-Israeli airstrike.
