EU imposes sanctions on four Russian airports

The European Union has imposed sanctions on four Russian regional airports as part of its latest package of restrictive measures against Russia over its war in Ukraine.

The airports are subject to a transaction ban, which prohibits EU operators from engaging in transactions with the listed facilities. According to the EU, the airports were used for the transfer of drones, missiles and related technology, or to help circumvent existing sanctions.

The measures form part of the EU’s latest sanctions package aimed at increasing pressure on Russia’s energy, financial and military sectors.
