Marco Rubio vows US will strictly enforce Cuba economic isolation

The United States intends to maintain its policy of economic isolation against Cuba and will not allow Havana to bypass existing sanctions, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated.

Speaking to Axios, Rubio emphasized that Washington is closing off all avenues for the Cuban regime to evade restrictions. He noted that Cuban authorities are merely simulating reforms while actively seeking mechanisms to skirt international sanctions.

Rubio expressed confidence that Cuba will fail to alter its trajectory over the next two and a half years. The statement follows recent U.S. Treasury action expanding sanctions to include six individuals and five entities linked to Cuba's military-industrial complex.
