Macron urges sanctions on fuel exports to Russia

Macron urges sanctions on fuel exports to Russia

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on international allies to introduce fresh sanctions targeting fuel, oil, and gas shipments to Russia to block incoming energy supplies, Ukrainian news agency UNN reported. Macron made the proposal during a meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing".

Macron noted that operations against the Russian shadow fleet, combined with Ukrainian strikes on domestic refining infrastructure, have forced Moscow to turn to third-country imports for diesel and refined products.

"Until now, there was no such need because Russia was an exporter, but the situation has reversed as Russia is currently importing. It is crucial that we introduce new sanctions to prevent European entities and Swiss trading firms from supplying these energy resources to Moscow," Macron stated.
