Fire extinguished at Kazakhstan's Atyrau refinery
A fire broke out at the Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ) in western Kazakhstan on Tuesday, according to local news agency Tengrinews.kz.
The refinery's press office reported that oil sludge ignited inside a settling unit within an enclosed mechanical treatment facility at 12:35 local time (11:35 Baku time) while no maintenance operations were underway. Emergency services deployed to the scene contained the blaze by 13:42 and fully extinguished the fire shortly afterward.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported and operations across the 5.5-million-tonne capacity plant remain underway in routine mode.
