Tokayev and Putin Hold Talks in Bishkek

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the SCO summit, stating that historically there have been no serious conflicts between Kazakhs and Russians.

"We have never in history had a conflict between Kazakhs and Russians in terms of interfaith relations or any political ties," Tokayev said. He added that bilateral interaction was built over centuries, with historical disagreements limited primarily to isolated economic disputes.

Vladimir Putin, in turn, highlighted that relations between Russia and Kazakhstan continue to develop constructively across virtually all sectors on a reciprocal basis.
