Trump administration prepares $2.8bn weapons package for Israel
The administration of US President Donald Trump is preparing a $2.8 billion weapons and military hardware transfer package for Israel, Reuters reported, citing a US official familiar with the terms of the planned transaction.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official indicated that the procurement package includes 40,000 2,000-pound (approximately 900-kilogram) aerial bombs alongside tens of thousands of other heavy munitions. The proposal has already been forwarded on an informal review basis to congressional committees responsible for oversight of major foreign military sales. Both the US State Department and the Israeli Embassy in Washington declined to comment on the prospective transfer.
