Ex-Turkish minister arrested

Former Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Fatma Betul Sayan Kaya has been remanded in custody as part of an investigation into financial market transactions, state broadcaster TRT Haber reported.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office moved to arrest Kaya on charges of violating capital markets law and participating in a criminal organization, with an on-duty court upholding the detention order following her testimony.
The court also imposed judicial control measures on Kaya’s husband, Ilyas Kaya, and former Capital Markets Board (SPK) chairman Ibrahim Omer Gonul, barring them from leaving the country and requiring periodic check-ins with authorities.
