Turkiye ratifies trilateral defense pact

Turkey’s parliament has ratified a joint defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, paving the way for troop deployments and operational enforcement of the trilateral pact, TRT Haber reported.
Lawmakers in the 600-seat legislature passed the bill, submitted by President Tayyip Erdogan, with a decisive majority. Turkish law requires parliamentary consent for international treaties and authorizes foreign troop deployments exclusively through legislative approval.
The accord, signed in Mecca on August 7 by Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, establishes mutual defense obligations. The framework allows for the direct positioning of coordinated allied military assets and personnel on Saudi territory.
