The bulk carrier FR Pearl / Esenyalı ran aground due to a raging storm near the port of Hopa close to the Georgian border.
This is the second such emergency this morning.
"At about 10.00 local time (GMT +3), a message was received about the dry cargo ship Esenyalı running aground near Hopa in Artvin province. An operation to rescue the ship’s crew is underway,” AFAD said in a press release.
According to the Marinetraffic portal, the ship, sailing under the Palau flag, left the Georgian port of Poti.
Earlier today it was reported that the Cambodian-flagged bulk carrier Vamos ran aground in a storm off Kastamonu province on the Black Sea coast of Türkiye. Later, the Ministry of Transport announced that the crew of 11 sailors had been rescued.
