Azerbaijan introduces card payment system on public buses

A new card payment system is being introduced on all public buses in Azerbaijan, part of a series of innovations for the country’s public transportation.

New buses are also being imported into the country. The card payment system will replace cash payment and promote the establishment of a fixed salary for drivers, who are said to be pleased with the changes.

A single uniform for drivers is also expected to be approved soon.

These announcements coincide with the country continuing to prepare for the European Olympic Games. The first European Games will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in June 2015.

The European Games will bring together more than 6,000 of the continent’s finest athletes over 17 days of competition.
