Azerbaijan warns residents of hazardous weather conditions
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has issued a public warning amid deteriorating weather conditions and falling temperatures.
Residents of mountainous and high-altitude areas have been urged to exercise particular caution. During periods of frost, people are advised to avoid travelling outside populated areas where possible. If travel is unavoidable, citizens are encouraged to inform relatives in advance about their route and travel time.
The ministry also reminded drivers to prepare their vehicles for winter conditions, ensuring technical readiness, winter tyres and sufficient fuel supplies. People are strongly advised to avoid areas prone to snow avalanches, including steep mountain slopes, and to plan their return before nightfall.
The ministry further warned of risks linked to increased use of gas and electric heating devices during cold weather. Overloaded power grids, faulty or improvised heaters, and leaving heating appliances unattended may result in fires or carbon monoxide poisoning.
In the event of emergencies or threats to life and health, citizens are urged to immediately contact the emergency hotline 112.
