Azerbaijan boosts cotton output, earns over $100 million from fiber exports

Azerbaijan produced 46,065.5 tonnes of raw cotton in January–June 2025, up 30.1% compared to the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said on Monday.

As of July 1, 26,981 tonnes of finished cotton products were in storage.

Cotton yarn production rose by 28.6% year-on-year to 9,288.2 tonnes, with warehouse stocks reaching 5,451.4 tonnes.

According to the State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan exported 69,541.6 tonnes of cotton fiber in the first half of 2025, down 8.6% year-on-year, earning $100.24 million — a 14.8% decrease. Cotton fiber accounted for 0.78% of total exports, compared to 0.91% in the same period of 2024.

The country also exported 5,418.1 tonnes of cotton yarn worth $12.9 million, up 26.1% and 16.6% respectively.
