Bitcoin hits two records in 24 hours, surges past $123,800

Bitcoin reached a new all-time high of $123,866 at 7:06 a.m. local time on Thursday, according to trading data from Binance.
Earlier the same night, the cryptocurrency had already broken its previous record, surpassing $123,500. The price rose more than 3.7% in 24 hours.
The previous peak was recorded on July 14, when bitcoin first exceeded $120,000 and climbed past $123,000.
