Azerbaijan Railways: Share of railway emissions is below 0.5%
Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) accounts for less than 0.5% of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, the company’s chairman Rovshan Rustamov said at the presentation of ADY’s decarbonisation project.
He noted that Azerbaijan has set ambitious national targets — reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030 and by 40% by 2050. As one of the country’s main transport operators, ADY not only supports these goals but also sees itself as an active contributor to achieving them.
Rustamov added that railway transport remains the cleanest form of mass mobility, and although ADY’s share of emissions is small, efforts in this direction remain important for the future.
