Erdogan, Putin mull explosion at Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, grain deal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has discussed the war in Ukraine during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, reported from Anadolu Agency.

Erdogan emphasized the importance of an impartial investigation into the explosion at the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.

According to the head of the Turkish state, Ankara is ready to make a feasible contribution to the formation of a commission, which may include experts from the Russian Federation and Ukraine, as well as the international community, including the UN and Türkiye.

Erdogan also said that the entire world community attaches particular importance to the issue of extending the ‘grain agreement.’ He emphasized that the agreement, reached by joint efforts, plays a vital role in addressing the global food crisis.

At the same time, Erdogan called the issue of further coordination of efforts with the UN on the issue of removing barriers to the export of grain and fertilizers from the Russian Federation useful.

The politician stressed that Ankara is ready to continue making efforts to ensure a just peace in the region.

"Türkiye adheres to a sincere position on the issue of comprehensive support for steps to cease hostilities,” the Turkish leader assured.
