Erdogan: Sweden must fulfill its promises to fight terrorism
19.09.2023 11:30
"Sweden must live up to its promises to fight terrorism. Instead, we still see terrorists roaming freely on the streets of Stockholm,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is in New York to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, told PBS TV channel.

Erdogan emphasized that the decision of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Sweden’s application to join NATO will be decisive: "In order for this proposal to be put to a vote of deputies, Sweden must fulfill its promises. Terrorist organizations must immediately stop their demonstrations and actions in the Swedish capital.”

Erdogan mentioned the completely unrelated issues of the sale of F-16 aircraft to Türkiye and Sweden’s membership in NATO: "President Joe Biden said that the decision on the sale of aircraft to Türkiye will be made by Congress. We have a Grand National Assembly. That is, a decision on the issue of Sweden will be made by our parliament. Nothing can be done if our parliament does not give its consent.”
