The transfer of income from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine by Western countries is a violation of international law, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a briefing.

According to the information , which cites Russian media, Peskov said this "theft" will not go unanswered.

"They steal and spend on purchasing weapons. It's hard to imagine anything worse. We will work out the possibility of legal prosecution of all those involved. Violation of international law, trampling on property rights, and so on," he noted.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the first tranche of income from frozen Russian assets amounting to 1.4 billion euros will be transferred to the European Commission in the first week of August. He specified that this sum of money will go to military aid to Ukraine: for the purchase of air defense systems and ammunition.
