Northern Cyprus president thanks Aliyev for continued support

Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for consistently supporting the Turkish Cypriots and said bilateral ties had entered a new phase.
Speaking to Report's U.S. bureau following an informal UN- and Turkey-mediated meeting on Cyprus in New York, Tatar said Azerbaijan treats Northern Cyprus as a brotherly nation.
He emphasized that the TRNC’s observer status in the Organization of Turkic States marked a key milestone, adding: “In Northern Cyprus, we say: one nation, three states — Cyprus, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.”
Tatar also noted that economic cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and TRNC is set to expand, creating new opportunities for younger generations.
Speaking about his visit to Karabakh, he said: “I stated that Karabakh is Azerbaijan. President Aliyev placed his hand on his heart in support. Azerbaijan’s victory is also a source of pride for us.”
