Baku expects amendments to Armenia’s constitution — Azerbaijani presidential envoy

The signing of the joint declaration in Washington between the United States, Azerbaijan, and Armenia confirmed Baku’s commitment to a peaceful agenda, said Elchin Amirbekov, Azerbaijani presidential envoy for special assignments, in an interview with NE Global.
He noted that the document’s provision on the initialing of the peace agreement entails further steps toward its signing and ratification. Specifically, Baku expects amendments to Armenia’s constitution aimed at removing lingering territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
Amirbekov also emphasized the importance of the declaration’s provisions on opening transport and communication links between the two countries, including ensuring unhindered transit between Azerbaijan’s main territory and Nakhchivan.
