Azerbaijan–Iran trade turnover totals $520 million in first 10 months of 2025
Trade between Azerbaijan and Iran reached $520 million in the first 10 months of 2025, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said. The figure is lower than last year’s $650 million, though both sides believe their economic potential is much higher, he noted.
Bayramov said the new road bridge and border checkpoint over the Astarachay River had been commissioned, while construction of the Aghvand–Kalaleh bridge is expected to be completed in early 2026. He added that the new Araz River crossing will have the highest throughput capacity among existing bridges.
The minister highlighted the importance of the Khudafarin and Giz Galasi hydropower projects and the launch of the Baku–Tabriz–Baku flight in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
He said talks with Iran covered regional security, energy, transport, humanitarian cooperation, and coordination within international organisations. Bayramov also informed Tehran about the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process and reconstruction efforts in territories liberated from occupation.
