Azerbaijan to offer passports online

Azerbaijan has outlined a new phase in the digitalisation of public services covering the issuance and replacement of identity cards and international passports.

According to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the services will be moved online via the e-government information system (EHIS) and the myGov platform.

The Interior Ministry, together with the digital development ministry, is expected to define the stages of digitalisation and prepare a concept paper by June 1, 2026. Implementation is planned by July 1, with services set to become available to users via myGov by Sept. 15.

The transition to an electronic format is expected to simplify access, reduce queues and speed up the processing of documents.
