With bulging biceps and washboards abs, Neale Cranwell is at the pinnacle of fitness.

But only a year ago, the ripped 39-year-old was paralysed from the neck down after being diagnosed with a fractured spine and two slipped discs.

"I could not believe my luck. One minute I was training (doing deadlifts at the time) the next minute I felt something pull and I was on the floor in agony," said Neale.

"The ambulance came took me to hospital where the doctor confirmed that my back was broken."

Shockingly, it's not the first time the the Essex-born bodybuilder has been crippled. Six years ago he was also left paralysed after a horrific a motorbike accident.

"I was in hospital for some time after a major motor bike accident which could have ended my life at the time," said Neale. "I could not move any parts of my body –however I never gave up".

In fact, the muscular hunk says his setbacks made he even more determined to achieve his life and fitness goals.

"Surgeons told me I'd never weight lift again, have to learn to write with my left hand, never get back on stage etc. But I've always proved them wrong," he said.

"I train to exhaustion six days a week, eat the correct diet to remain in shape all year round."

"Having won some major titles within Bodybuilding I’m still hungry for many more," he added.

Since his paralysis, he was crowned British NAC Heavyweight Championship in November and finally reached the pinnacle by winning the WPF Mr Universe title.

This is an impressive feat for any man, but even more so given Neale was unable to move from the neck down only a year ago.

After his life-altering injuries, the personal trainer and owner of Krunch gym, was determined not to give up.

Through will power and physio, he managed to use his legs and arms again, but had shattered all the bones in both his arms and hips.
