The England international, 26, has been on the sidelines for the last few weeks with the knee injury he picked up in training.
The former Chelsea hitman returned to the matchday squad for Saturday's 4-1 victory over Manchester City and was expected to feature in tonight's game at Anfield.
However, he has reported a problem with his foot and will sit on the sidelines.
Christian Benteke leads the line for Jurgen Klopp's men who can book their place in the last 32 with a victory over Willy Sagnol's side.
