Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal has ‘gone’

A tweet from Sinclair's verified Twitter account showed Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward meeting super-agent Jorge Mendes.
The caption read: "LVG is to be sacked...... Think Ed Woodward is a City fan #onceablue.”
The former City favourite added: "Old photo but LVG has gone.”
Sinclair, who played 97 games for the club, followed his initial tweet by writing: "Jose's in at the swamp.”
Mourinho wants the Old Trafford job and is represented by Mendes.
But it all appeared to be a big hoax as Sinclair backtracked and claimed his phone was stolen at a Christmas party.
He wrote: "School boy error left my phone on the table at a Christmas party sincere apologies for my last 2 tweets #Merrychristmas.
"Sorry to disappoint but cheer up you moody lot ..... He might not stay for the full duration of his deal.”
Van Gaal has overseen a run of six winless games and the scrutiny on his post grew after the home defeat to Norwich on Saturday, which came just two days after Mourinho left Chelsea.
United have dropped out of the top four in the Premier League, have already been eliminated from the Champions League and have not tasted victory since the win at Watford on November 21.
Mourinho's departure from Chelsea last week has led to speculation the Portuguese could come in and succeed Van Gaal if there is not a swift upturn in results.
Mourinho's name was chanted by United fans at Old Trafford during the loss to Norwich and he has already confirmed that he has no desire to take a break after leaving Stamford Bridge.Speaking after the loss to the Canaries, Van Gaal insisted he had the backing of both vice-chairman Ed Woodward and his own players.
"Ed was very fast out of the dressing room but I feel that support, yes," the 64-year-old said.
"The most important support is from the players because the players have to do it on the pitch and the chemistry between the players and the manager and his staff is very important."
Mourinho is due to fly to Portugal this week to spend time with his family over the festive period but he has made it known that he would be interested in taking charge at Old Trafford if the position became available.
Pep Guardiola, currently in charge of Van Gaal's old club Bayern Munich, will also become available in the summer after announcing he is leaving the German giants.
