Russia has refused to grant UN access to the left-bank areas of the Kherson region, which suffered during the explosion of the Kakhovka hydropower plant, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine Denise Brown said, reported from the UN press service.

In this regard, Brown called on the Russian authorities to act in accordance with their commitments under international humanitarian law.

"The Russian government has so far rejected our appeal for access to areas under its temporary military control. The UN will continue to work to obtain the necessary access. We cannot refuse to provide assistance to people who need it,” the UN humanitarian coordinator said.
