Professor from Hungary: Brussels often allows itself to interfere in internal affairs of others

Brussels constantly interferes in the internal affairs of other states, and this applies to both EU members and countries outside of it that do not even plan to join the European Union, senior researcher at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, Professor Vasa László told in an interview.

Even in the case of EU member states, the Brussels administration intervenes in matters that fall under its exclusive national competence, he noted.

"In the case of third countries, criticism is regularly expressed even in the case that these countries do not intend to become members of the European Union, but only have a partnership and commercial relationship with them. However, all of this usually appears only at the political level, because Western European companies like to invest and do business in countries whose leaders like to criticize on the international stage.”

"The continuous and constant criticism of Brussels in relation to the internal relations of other countries is also deceptive, since there are also many objections to be found among the member states of the European Union, e.g. regarding the state of justice. I do not consider this EU practice to be appropriate, in my opinion, first of all, the European Union should obtain accurate information in order to be able to judge. In many cases, EU leaders judge and criticize on the basis of information that is not correct and, in fact, does not correspond to reality at all.

France is not suitable to act as a mediator between Azerbaijan and Armenia during the peace negotiations and political settlement, since Paris is quite obviously a very important supporter of Armenia not only in Europe but also in the world. With such a background, Paris is not unbiased, so it is not able to assess the situation objectively,” he added.
