NATO Sec.-Gen. holds Iran responsible for attack on US base

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has held Iran responsible for the attack on a US base in the Al-Tanf area on the Jordan-Syria border, which killed 3 US troops, reported from foreign media.

Stoltenberg made the remark during his visit to the US.

"So, let me begin by offering my deepest condolences for the US troops killed and wounded in yesterday’s drone attack in Jordan. We see Iran continue to destabilize the region. Iran also bears responsibility for backing terrorists who attack our ships in the Red Sea,” he said.

On January 28, US Central Command reported that a drone attack on a Western coalition military base in the Al-Tanf area on the Syrian-Jordanian border killed three American troops and injured 34.

Since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, attacks on American military bases in Syria and Iraq using missiles and drones have become more frequent.
