Temperature in Azerbaijan 3…4° C higher than climate norms

In the recent days, the temperature in the country is higher than the climate norms. Senior hydrologist of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Asif Verdiyev told APA that on August 18, the temperature in Baku and Absheron peninsula was 3…4° C higher than the climate norms. He said that on August 18, the temperature was 38° C in Baku and Absheron peninsula, 39° C in Sumgayit and 39,5° C in Mashtagha. The temperature was 39° C in central lowland regions and about 40° C in some parts of the Nakhchivan AR. The highest temperature in the country was recorded at about 12:00-15:00.  Verdiyev said that today the temperature in Baku and Absheron peninsula is slightly above normal. Such hot weather in the country will continue till tomorrow. The senior hydrologist added that abnormally high temperature is not observed yet in Baku and Absheron peninsula.
