Ukrainian Armed Forces capture around 2,000 Russian soldiers in Kursk

Ukrainian troops captured about 2,000 Russian soldiers during an operation in the Kursk region, according to The Independent, reported from RBC-Ukraine.

According to a British media outlet, Ukrainian troops captured Russian soldiers during an operation in the Kursk region to use them as a swap for their civilians.

In particular, one Ukrainian colonel told The Independent that up to 2,000 Russian soldiers were captured. This is not an exact figure, but photos and videos show a large number of captured Russians in the Kursk region.

Since August 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been conducting a special operation in the Kursk region of Russia. The special operation was officially confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy almost a week later, on August 12.

Today, it became known that Ukraine had set up a commandant's office there, and Major General Eduard Moskalev was appointed as its head.

In addition, during the fighting in the Kursk region, Ukrainian Armed Forces captured Russian soldiers. In particular, today the Security Service of Ukraine warriors captured more than 100 Russian soldiers in the Kursk region, including members of Kadyrov's Akhmat unit.

On August 14, Ukrainian defenders managed to capture a company of Russian soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia. More than 100 Russian soldiers surrendered.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets had a conversation with his Russian counterpart Tatyana Moskalkova about the exchange of prisoners against the backdrop of the Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region. This dialogue was initiated by Moscow for the first time.
