Japan significantly reduces trade with Russia

In July 2024, Japan reduced its imports of liquefied natural gas from Russia by 63.9% compared to the same period in 2023, reported from statistics published by the Japanese Ministry of Finance.

In turn, purchases of Russian coal decreased by 80.2%. Japan did not import oil from Russia during this period. In July 2024, Japan increased its imports of fish and fish products from Russia by 18.8% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data from the Ministry of Finance. 

At the same time, supplies of Russian grain over the same period decreased by 12.3%.

Supplies of passenger cars from Japan to Russia in July 2024 fell by 34.3% compared to the same period in 2023. 

At the same time, exports of automobile parts to the Russian Federation increased by 13%, and motorcycles by 77%, but only regarding four units of such equipment.
